Morning Prayer – Celebrating Holidays
Holidays
Almighty God, it seems as if every time I turn around I am faced with a celebration that involves a baby. I know this holiday season there’ll be new babies and new moms-to-be. In my heart, I don’t want to be jealous, angry, or envious, or offended by the insensitive things others might say, but it is hard to face these days. You said in Your Word You would go before me and be with me. You have not forsaken me and You are with me at each family/friends gathering. I ask for my focus to be outward toward others, and to remember the reason for the season, rather than inward toward myself. As I feel compelled to attend these holiday festivities, I ask You to dissolve away my heaviness and strengthen me according to Your Word. Most of all, help me to truly have a heart of gratitude on Thanksgiving day and to celebrate on Christmas, the sweetest baby ever born in the manger, Jesus, the Savior of the World.
In His name I pray, Amen.
