Dancing Upon Barren Land - Prayer, Scripture Reflections, and Hope for Infertility by Lesli Westfall

When People Say Insensitive Things

Yep! It’s bound to happen with the holiday season approaching and all it entails. If you are able, for the most part, try to remember most people aren’t trying to be insensitive. Try and look beyond their well-meaning, yet stupid comments and  see their heart. I know it’s hard but you can do it! In the meantime, here’s a Biblically based prayer along with scripture for thought I’ve written if and when that happens.

“Heavenly Father, why do people say unkind things? I’ve been hurt by their words and insensitivity. Help me not to be offended, angry, or bitter because of what is said. Instead, help me to forgive. Help me hold my tongue so I won’t lash out. Strengthen me in love so when I encounter insensitive words again I will not repay insult with insult but with blessing. Help others hear themselves and help me hear You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Psalm 37:8 NASB, Psalm 141:3 NASB, Romans 12:14 AMP, 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, Ephesians 6:10, Hebrews 12:15, 1 Peter 3:9
