Monday Morning Prayer – Holidays
Baby Related Holidays
The prayer below was written for my upcoming book, Dancing Upon Barren Land – Prayer, Scripture Reflections, and Hope for Infertility. The prayer deals with Mother’s/Father’s Day; baby-related holidays. I have re-written it for the purpose of this blog post, for the upcoming Christmas holiday. However, make the prayer your own and insert whatever you wish. I encourage you to print out the prayer and keep it close by as go from family to family celebrating the holiday. Take the time to look up the Scripture Reflections, meditating on them and keeping them close by too!
This time of year can be particularly heart wrenching. For me, it’s a challenge as I walk through Target and see the cute little Christmas dresses on the racks. I dream of a family photo of my little girl dressed in the all the finery! And, to hear and see the family traditions being acted out amongst others. I long to do what my late mother did for me. She always made Christmas fun and exciting. How our hearts wish that were us, right? Oh! the memories we could make!
Yet I continue to thank God He has not forgotten me, nor any of us for that matter. Plus, I try, as hard as it is at times, to focus my mind on the gift of this season and the gift I have every day, JESUS! I hope to encourage you to do the same.
Praying for ya!
Love to all,
Lesli

Prayer
“Almighty God, it seems as if every time I turn around I am faced with a celebration involving a children. In my heart I don’t want to be jealous, angry, or envious, but it is hard to face these days. You said in Your Word You would go before me and be with me. You have not forsaken me and are with me at each celebration. I ask for my focus to be outward toward others rather than inward toward myself. And my focus to be upon You in celebrating the birth of your son, Jesus Christ. I pray for blessings over the family and friends I’m celebrating with. As I feel compelled to attend this because it is Christmas and out of duty to my family. I ask You’ll dissolve away my heaviness and strengthen me according to Your Word. Most of all, I thank you in advance for the day I will celebrate Christmas with the blessing of my own children.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”
